Truck Drivers are Urged to Stay Safe on the Road over the 4th of July Weekend

The truck drivers of America’s Road Team are asking drivers to help keep road safe over the 4th of July holiday weekend by driving carefully and sober. The American Automobile Association (AAA) estimates that nearly 41 million people will take to the roads over the holiday.

Know your route in advance.
When it comes to accidents, distracted and indecisive drivers are majority to blame.

Put away the electronics.
According to Edgar Snyder and Associates, at any given time throughout the day, approximately 660,000 drivers are attempting to use their phones while behind the wheel of an automobile. Don’t be the 660,001st driver in that statistic!

Blind spots.
Many laugh but the rule of thumb is: if you can’t see the truck driver in their side-view mirrors, they can’t see you. Big rigs also take a lot longer to stop than a passenger car, and many drivers don’t realize this when they cut in front of a truck.

So enjoy your Independence Day and hopefully you will be able to enjoy fireworks, food, and celebrations, and not so much holiday traffic.
