National Brake Safety Week
Happy National Brake Safety Week to all of our drivers!
During the week of August 22-28th, CVSA’s Operation Airbrake Program will be holding a brake safety enforcement campaign. Here are some things to know about the campaign:
- Commercial motor vehicle inspectors will be preforming brake system inspections. Large trucks and buses throughout North America should be aware of possible random inspections in order to identity brake-system violations.
- Brake-systems are a vital part safe commercial motor vehicle operations. In order for them to properly function throughout all the tough conditions they go through, it is important for them to be inspected and maintained carefully and consistently.
- As a part of CVSA’s brake safety week, enforcement officials will be inspecting commercial motor vehicles and placing vehicles out-of-service until any critical brake or other violations are corrected. During last year’s brake safety week, 12% of the 43,565 commercial motor vehicles that were inspected had brake-related violations that put them out-of-service. Make sure that your brakes are up to standards so that you can keep your truck on the road!
